A short vehicle pursuit ended with the arrest of two men who had been spotted in a stolen vehicle, the Turlock Police Department reported.

Daniel Sossamon, 33, was arrested for evading, possession of stolen property, resisting arrest, possession of methamphetamine, and driving on a suspended license. Agustin Cachu, 25, was arrested for a probation violation and for possession of methamphetamine.

The incident began around 4:16 p.m. Thursday when a Turlock police officer checked the license plate of a suspicious vehicle and discovered it had been reported stolen.

The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver, later identified as Sossamon, refused to stop and sped off, according to the police report.

Other officers joined in the pursuit and it came to a quick end when Sossamon stopped the car in the 100 block of Starr Avenue.

Both Sossamon and Cachu ran from the vehicle. Cachu did not get far before he was apprehended, but Sossamon was able to jump over a few fences and was making his getaway before officers stopped him on Almond Avenue.

Both men were booked into the Stanislaus County Jail.
