Due to the increase in the number of traffic collisions caused by teen drivers illegally using cell phones, Central Valley law enforcement agencies are joining forces for a zero tolerance operation.

On Monday and Tuesday the agencies will focus enforcement efforts around high schools, according to the California Highway Patrol.

According to statistics from the Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System, cell phones are listed as the number one identifiable reason when inattention to driving was cited as a factor in collisions.
