Dennis Earl Elementary students rung in the Chinese New Year a little early Friday with a traditional Chinese parade and feast. Every year, around the time of the Chinese New Year, students learn about ancient China and the Chinese culture. The celebration is incorporated into their curriculum at that time.
This year four sixth grade classes participated in the Chinese New Year parade. Students made lanterns, drums and even the traditional Chinese dragon.
“Kids were screaming when the dragon came out,” said Ravreet Singh, sixth grade Earl student. “I liked this celebration because we got to share with each other what we have learned.”
The Chinese New Year is on Feb. 14.
