Julien Elementary sixth graders Lauren Gomez and Roma Raje finished fifth overall in the binary STAR test at the Stanislaus Mathematics Council’s Sixth Grade Math Blast. Julien Elementary sent 13 students to the competition, which was held at Savage Middle School in Modesto.

Stanislaus State’s Academic Senate voted in favor of a bill that would require students enrolled in all 23 California State University campuses to take one 3-credit unit of any qualifying Ethnic Studies course before they graduate (Journal file photo).
