The works of dozens of artists will be on display, as well as the creative process behind their works, during the Stanislaus County Artist Open Studio Tour.

A total of 57 artists — including 10 from Turlock —will be opening their doors and inviting the public in to get a first-hand look at the artist at work. The tour gives visitors the opportunity to talk with the artists about their methods of creation and the inspiration behind their various pieces.

In addition to the studio stops, the tour will also visit several art galleries in the county.

Some of the pieces will be for sale and attendees will have the opportunity to win an original piece of art work.

Local Turlock artists participating in the tour include Rhett Regina Owings, Don Hall, Claudia Silvia-Doo. Greg Frazier, Danette Tiernan, Diane Wold, Morgan Andre, Pam Toombs, Shirley Stevens,  and Jared Lawson.

The tour is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Sunday. The maps to the studios and the passports, which serve as tickets are $10 and can be purchased locally at the Carnegie Arts Center, 350 N. Broadway, Turlock, and 1st Street Gallery, 226 N. 1st St., Turlock. For more information, call 222-8687.

The tour is sponsored by the Stanislaus County Travel and Tourism Roundtable.
