Great American Western Art Show: About three weeks away from the nation’s 250th birthday, Donna Wayman-Maurer is getting set to hold her own celebration through a unique art show taking place at her business in downtown Turlock.
This Saturday, June 13, the Pink Duck Art Gallery located at 141 N. Center St. will be hosting the Great American Western Art Show. The event will be held 2-8:30 p.m. and will display fine art from over 30 artists from across the region depicting western and cowboy culture, a key aspect of America’s rich culture.
“The western culture is such a big part of this nation’s history,” said Wayman-Maurer, who owns the Pink Duck. “I think it’s important that we remember and celebrate the history of the west as we celebrate the 250th birthday of the United States. There is no better way to do that than through art and spending time with others.”
The event will be accompanied by the sounds of western musician Jamie Byous from 6-8 p.m. His live performance will be preceded by an appearance and exclusive show from Academy of Western Artists Award-winning Cowboy Poet Larry Maurice from 4-5 p.m.
Barbecue and drinks will also be available to guests. There is even a contest for best dressed western attire, with prizes on the line.
