Since 2011, Dr. Prashant Parmar has kept smiles in Turlock pearly white at his office, Accurate Family Dental. The second-generation dentist was inspired to pursue a career in the dental field by childhood visits to his father’s dental office, where he watched as patient after patient sat down in the dental chair with an ache or a pain, and left completely cured.
“Watching him relieve pain and suffering was a rare privilege and a motivating experience for me to choose this profession,” said Parmar. “I can’t think of anything different I would rather be doing than my dental occupation. The joy of changing a person’s life by creating a healthy smile or fixing an ‘ouchy tooth’ for a child, enabling them to eat without pain, is one of the intangible rewards of being a dentist that can’t be measured.”
The satisfaction of fixing something that is “broken” in a mouth is what drew Parmar to dentistry, he said, with each day and each patient providing a new experience.
“Dentistry is a truly dynamic field. With the variety of work I get to do, no two days are ever the same,” said Parmar.
Parmar has been providing dental care in the Turlock and Modesto region since 2005, and his wife, Shephalee, was instrumental in opening Accurate Family Dental seven years ago. The office offers a variety of services, from implants and root canals to veneers and gum treatment. Parmar and his office give thorough initial intraoral exams, and technological advancements like digital recordkeeping, digital x-rays and intraoral cameras allow patients to picture their dental treatment more clearly, as well as discover problems like dry mouth and teeth clenching or grinding.
For those who may have anxiety before they go to the dentist, Accurate Family Dental can also help alleviate any fears through oral sedation – a one pill treatment for patients who are fearful of the dentist, have a strong gag reflex or have difficulty getting numb. And while sedation is always an available option for fearful patients, Parmar also focuses on developing a trusting relationship between himself and those who may be afraid of the dental office, since those fears can often lead to neglect and deterioration of a patient’s oral health.
“Easing the patient’s anxieties and building trust is necessary here,” said Parmar. “That bond encourages patients to continue making regular dental visits and keep their smiles healthy.”
Parmar describes Accurate Family Dental as a “family-oriented” dental practice, where the single focus is to give patients healthy smiles with a team of dental practitioners they can trust. Since its start, Parmar has focused on ensuring the office stays connected to the community, whether it be through connecting with patients that sit in the chair or sponsoring sporting activities throughout town.
“We have fostered a strong bond with our community, and this love is ever-growing,” said Parmar. “I love when patients see me outside of work, at Costco or a restaurant, and stop by to greet me and ask me questions about me and my family. It’s so warming to be a part of this vibrant community.”
