Turlock’s Emanuel Medical Center has spent the first part of May honoring its nurses, as well as showing appreciation to all its staff during National Hospital Week.

Emanuel recognized National Nurses Week May 6-12 with special theme days and a catered lunch.

“We are grateful to all of our nurses and humbled by the caring and professionalism they demonstrate every day,” said Murali N. Naidu, M.D., CEO of Emanuel Medical Center. “They often serve as the first point of contact for our patients and their families during their time of greatest need, providing compassion and healing. Their resilience, leadership, and essential contributions are at the heart of our continued focus on delivering high-quality, compassionate care to our community.”

National Nurses Week is celebrated annually to coincide with the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, on May 12.

Emanuel then showed appreciation to all its employees during National Hospital Week May 8-14. This year’s theme was “We Are Health Care.”

Since 1921, hospitals across the country have been celebrating National Hospital Week. The event has grown over the past 100 years and is now the nation’s largest health care event, providing an opportunity to highlight hospitals, health systems, and health care workers and the innovative ways they are supporting and connected to their community.

“The unwavering strength and commitment demonstrated by our nurses, physicians, caregivers, and staff is deeply appreciated and admired,” said Naidu. “I am thankful to them every day for stepping up in the moments that matter most to our patients and for their essential support as we continue to work together to ensure every patient in our community receives high-quality, compassionate care.”

Emanuel is hoping to expand its healthcare team and is hosting a hiring event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today. The hospital has open positions for nurses, in food service, radiology, for a medical social worker and director of pharmacy, among others.
