The Turlock community is no stranger to farmers markets, and soon, lovers of freshly-grown produce and handmade goods will have another event to shop at when the Tractor Supply Farmers Market is held later this month.

Though other Tractor Supply Company stores have held farmers markets in the past, the event is the first of its kind at Turlock’s local Tractor Supply. Jaime Freitas, a team leader at the store, hopes the market can serve as an event which brings the entire community together to support local vendors.

“We want it to be a city-centered thing,” said Freitas. “We want local growers, owners and vendors to provide their products to the community.”

The farmers market at Tractor Supply will feature local produce growers, artisans and business owners, and visitors will be able to purchase a variety of locally-crafted goods such as soaps and candles.

“This is our local area, and this farmers market will get vendors’ names out there so people know what they’re selling, know what’s being made and know what they can purchase around Turlock,” said Freitas.

Tractor Supply is still accepting vendors for the market, added Freitas. Vendors encouraged to participate in the event include those who sell produce, crafts and other self-made goods, but plant vendors who sell items such as trees, flowers and fruit or vegetable plants will not be permitted so that there is no business taken away from the plant vendors already selling at the store.

Tractor Supply in Turlock also does their part to give back to the community by supporting the local Stanislaus County 4-H club. Members of the club will also be at the farmers market collecting donations, and will be having a bake sale as well.
