Local residents looking for family fun will soon be able to 'Get Air' as Turlock is set to welcome its first trampoline park.

Turlocker Jack Wu is partnering with Utah-based Get Air Indoor Trampoline Park to bring the popular jumping recreation to town. Get Air has over 40 trampoline parks across the United States and in Canada, Mexico, Japan and Thailand.

Wu said that he was excited to bring an activity to town that the whole family can enjoy. When he was a student at Turlock High, he remembers that Turlock only had a population of around 40,000 at that time and boasted a bowling alley and movie theater. Turlock has grown by over 30,000 people and no longer has a bowling alley.

"There's nothing else for the kids to do except go to the movies and visit the parks...I didn't realize it until I had a kid of my own," said Wu.

Wu said that after visiting a nearby trampoline park with his 5-year-old son, he went home and did some research and thought that Turlock would be the perfect place to open a Get Air park.

"(Trampoline parks) are affordable and have so many benefits," said Wu. "Turlock is a great centralized location."

The trampoline park is still in the early stages and Wu just signed a lease to open the business at 1300 W. Main Street, next to Planet Fitness. The park is expected to be open by fall and employ up to 20 part-time employees and three to five full-time employees.

The Turlock Get Air Trampoline Park will feature side-by-side trampolines, foam pits, dunk lanes and dodge ball courts, all in the 12,000 square-foot facility.

A special feature will be a ninja warrior course with spider walls, a slackline, monkey rings, a rock-climbing wall and a cliffhanger. It’s not quite as difficult as the obstacles showcased in the TV show “American Ninja Warrior,” but Wu said friends can get together and compete which is "super exciting."
