Truck collides with trailer injuring Hilmar family
emergency

A Hilmar woman and her two sons were seriously injured in a collision with a tractor pulling a trailer on Friday morning.

The woman, Susan Cabral Yori, 48, of Hilmar and her 16-year-old and 10-year-old sons both sustained major injuries in the crash, though none were considered life-threatening, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The two boys were not wearing seat belts at the time of the collision, the CHP reported.

The collision happened around 8 a.m. Friday on Williams Avenue in Hilmar.

Jose Mena, 46, of Hilmar was driving a Kubota tractor and pulling a 15-foot trailer with caution triangles attached. He was traveling eastbound on Williams at an estimated 8 miles per hour.

Cabral Yori was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado. It’s believed she misjudged how much to reduce her speed and collided with the back of the trailer.

Cabral Yori was flown to Memorial Medical Center and the two boys were transported to Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera.

Mena did not sustain any injuries.

Drugs and alcohol were not considered to be factors in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
