A local family is getting set to introduce the city of Turlock to a new style of flavorful wings. Modesto’s Steven Ha and Thomas and Trevor Diep are currently in the process of transforming the former Pizza Factory on 1050 Monte Vista Ave. into the latest Fire Wings restaurant.
Fire Wings is a chain restaurant specializing in a wide array of sauced chicken wings that was originally founded in Sacramento in 2015. When the Turlock location has its soft opening on Tuesday, it will be the 38th franchisee to open in the United States, with only three others currently operating outside of California.
Opening right across the street from Stanislaus State, the group of owners believe that they have found a prime location for their new restaurant.
“We really believe that it's a good addition to the Turlock community,” said owner Trevor Diep. “We picked this area because we are by a pretty big main road (Monte Vista) and there’s a college across the street. I think everybody loves wings and students are especially not exempt from that.”
Trevor, alongside his brother Thomas and bother in-law Steven Ha, acquired the space nearly two years ago and have been renovating and decorating the space ever since.
“It took us a really long time to get things ready with inventory shortages and with how expensive materials have gotten. We were also able to finally pass all our inspections and are finally almost ready to open our doors. It took us quite a bit of time, but you know, once you start a project, you’re going to have to finish it,” Diep joked.
Fire Wings will have a similar menu as other locations, including the one in Modesto. This includes over 20 different flavors of wings, including eight “fusion” flavors that are inspired by traditional Asian sauces. Aside from wings, the restaurant will have chicken tenders, sandwiches, noodles and sides like fries and macaroni and cheese available to order. Pepsi soft drinks and select beers will also be on tap for customers.
“The different flavors seem to be pretty popular in the California area,” Diep explained. “We're expanding really quickly, so I think it's definitely going to be a fun and exciting new opportunity for us and the Turlock community.”
After the soft opening on April 19, Diep expects the new restaurant to operate at regular hours beginning the following week.
