Turlock woman, Patterson man killed in crash

A head-on collision near Patterson claimed the life of a Turlock woman and a Patterson man, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The deceased woman was identified by the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office as Rebecca Andayan, 47, of Turlock.

The name of the deceased has not been released as of yet. He was a 69-year-old Patterson man.

The collision was reported at 4:50 a.m. Thursday on W. Main Street, east of Jennings Road.

A Nissan sedan, driven by Andayan, was headed westbound on W. Main Street.

A Ford pickup truck, driven by the Patterson man, was headed eastbound on W. Main Street.

The Nissan veered into the eastbound lane, directly in the path of the Ford. The two vehicles collided head-on.

The crash ignited a fire that engulfed the Ford, according to the CHP.

Both drivers were pronounced deceased at the scene.

It’s unknown why the Nissan veered into the eastbound lane.

It is not yet known if drugs or alcohol were factors in the collision. The investigation is ongoing.
