Alice Mary Galvan passed away at home peacefully on August 11, 2020 surrounded by family.  She was 89 years old.  Alice was born on February 6, 1931 in Shickley, Nebraska to Jacob and Mamie “Mary” Katheiser.  Jacob and Mary, along with Alice’s 6 siblings, moved to Turlock in 1936.

Alice married Ignacio Galvan in 1947 and had 5 children.  Alice retired from Foster Farms where she had worked for over 25 years. After retiring, she spent her days loving and caring for her children and grandchildren.  She was a very simplistic woman who enjoyed spending time with her family.  Alice also enjoyed spending time outside and continued to mow her own yard until she was in her late 70s.  She was very sprite.  She was also a very strong and independent woman who lived on her own up until the day she passed.

She is preceded in death by husband Ignacio Galvan; parents Jacob and Mary; sisters Alda Munson nee Katheiser, Mary Watts nee Katheiser and Rita Ann Katheiser; and brothers Francis Katheiser, Walter Katheiser and Joseph Katheiser. She is survived by one sister, Anita McDaniel, who resides in Florida; children Rita Flor, Pamela Hacker, Nish “Sonny” Galvan, Carlos Galvan and Darcy Galvan, as well as 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Monday, August 17 at 9 a.m. at Turlock Memorial Park located at 575 N Soderquist Rd in Turlock.  Private interment will follow after.  Flowers may be sent to Turlock Memorial Park.
