Anthony Schleder, a long time resident of Hilmar and Walnut Creek, CA died in his sleep May 6th surrounded by his children. Jimmy was born to parents Anthony and Lena Schleder on October 13, 1938. He was their only child. He leaves behind his wife Loretta ‘Lori’ LaPole Davis, four children Andrew (Michelle), Sharon, Jay, and Lisa and 13 Grandchildren Madison, Austin, Jackson, Taylor, Jonathon, Sean, Michelle, Matthew, Ryan, Adam, Courtney, Constance, and Justin.  His sense of humor and constant pranks will be missed along with his loyalty, honesty, and strong work ethic.


Jimmy was born in La Puente and grew up in Hilmar. When he graduated from Hilmar High School in 1956, he had records in Track and Basketball including the most points scored in a basketball game. He also lettered in baseball and football. He attended Modesto JC and graduated from San Jose State with a Bachelor’s Degree and a Teaching Credential. At San Jose State, he met his wife Roberta Jean Landau. They had four kids while living in Walnut Creek where he was a big supporter and occasional coach in Baseball, Basketball, Swimming, Track, and Soccer. Jimmy worked as a Claims Manager for the State Compensation Insurance Fund in the San Francisco District Office, and then worked for Contra Costa County as a Manager before retiring.


Jimmy enjoyed watching his race horses, his children play sports, and sitting in the Black Hole watching the Oakland Raiders. A Celebration of Life is planned for July, 2018.
