Arlen Louis Santos, 78, of Turlock, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, December 15th. 

Born and raised in Turlock to Louis and Florence Santos, Arlen graduated from Turlock High School in 1959 and went on to attend Modesto Junior College. For a brief time, he worked as a butcher for Rudy’s Meat Market before settling down in his career with the Turlock Fire Department from 1960 to 1996, retiring as Fire Marshall.  After retirement, Arlen and Linda moved to their mountain home where they lived for 17 years.

Arlen’s interests primarily revolved around cars, cars and more cars! Among his other hobbies, he also enjoyed motorcycles and hunting. He was a charter member of Jamestown Harley Group and the Firefighters’ Association. Arlen’s greatest passion in life, however, was his family. 

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Santos; son, Gregory Santos; and step-son, Anthony Bettencourt. He leaves behind his loving wife, Linda Bettencourt Santos; children, Lyna (Greg) Flowers, Janet (Lee) Marchant and Barry (Kirstin) Santos; step-sons, Keith Pollinger and Kevin Pollinger; as well as 10 grandchildren 9 great-grandchildren. 

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2019. The Funeral Service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 20, 2019. All services will be held at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock.
