Bernadine was born in September 1925 in Claflin, Kansas, the daughter of Frank and Edith Kafka. She lived with her parents, two sisters and one brother on a farm in Claflin. She later married Virgil Lane. Bernadine was a working mom and worked in the cafeteria at Wakefield Elementary School in Ceres and schools in Turlock. She retired at 72 years of age to be a caregiver to her husband and brother-in-law, Gene. She retired in Ceres, then moved to Oakdale where she proudly lived alone at Oakdale Senior Apartments. She enjoyed spending time with her family and going out to eat. She was a very affectionate person who gave lots of hugs and told you she loved you. We will miss her tremendously.
She is survived by her daughters, Vickie, Patti, Mickey and Thea; son, Gary; grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil; and son, Kelly.
