Daniel Raymond Avila

Daniel Avila passed away on January 24, 2021 after a long illness. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Myrna, his five children: Matthew (Lisa), Vincent (Erica), Christopher, Denise (Scott Collier) and Danelle Lamoureux (Doug); five grandchildren, and his sister Vivian Chorley. Dan passed away at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Merced Falls, Dan grew up in Hickman and graduated from Hughson High School. After serving in the U.S. Army, he enjoyed a forty year career in city planning and urban development- first in Modesto then in Turlock where he served as Planning Director for 25 years. Dan later served as the Director of Public Works for the city of Mount Shasta for five years before retiring. Dan and Myrna moved to Lincoln, California in 2012.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 21st at 1:30 PM at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the American Stroke Association in his name.
