David Loren Zollinger passed away on March 23rd, 2018 at Emmanuel Hospital in Turlock, California. He was born on April 2nd,1929 in San Fernando California. He grew up in southern California helping raise corn that his family would sell at a roadside produce market. These days would be fondly recalled throughout his life. He served proudly in all three branches of the military, most notably air combat in the Korean War. It was during this time of service that he met the love of his life Katherine Eloise Goza at Fort Sill in Oklahoma. They were married on March 21, 1953 in Lawton Oklahoma. David and Katherine moved back to California where David earned a degree in agriculture from Fresno State. He enjoyed a long and industrious career in agriculture managing several farming cooperatives and farming a well-manicured and highly productive ranch of almonds, peaches, and grapes. Upon retiring from the managerial position of the California Tomato Growers Association in 1993, David stayed busy as member of several farming cooperatives including Blue Diamond Almonds and Cortez Growers. David remained true to his roots even after selling his farm by growing fruits and vegetables in the First United Presbyterian Church garden. David loved The Lord and enjoyed serving the church as an elder. David was chairman on the committee that brought pastor Craig Wright to the area. David Zollinger is survived by his son Robert, daughter Ruth, granddaughter Kara, grandson David, and brother Jack. He was preceded by his loving wife Katherine who went home to be with The Lord on March 18, 2015. His ashes will be buried at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella, CA. A memorial service will be held in his honor at First United Presbyterian Church in Turlock on Saturday, April 21st at 11:00am.
