On August 29th, 2015 Dorothy Evelyn Hamlow Denair, CA surrounded by her family entered into rest peacefully to be with her Lord. 

She is survived by her daughter Margaret “Peggy” McNear, seven grandchildren; Julie Lorensen, Jennifer Winchester, Melissa M. Granucci, Andrew Justus, Charlie Wayne McAlester, Lisa Martinez and Gabriel McAlester and 15 grandchildren, her sister-in-laws; Doris Herr Mamie Barnes and numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was born July 11th, 1924 in Hastings, OK to Alfred and Pearl Barnes. 

She is preceded in death by her husband Manuel C. Hamlow, daughter Patricia Justus, son Raymond Wayne McAlester, grandson Jason C. McNear and four brothers Dick Barnes, Lewis Barnes, Ancel and Dorise “Bud “ Barnes. 

Dorothy was a farmer’s wife and worked for 27yrs at Crown Carwash in Turlock, CA. She loved the outdoors, was an avid gardener with the reputation to make anything grow, Anything! She was an accomplished quilter that would make anyone envious, collected dolls and angels; she loved butterflies and a good game of cards. 

She was a member of the Southern Baptist Church and enjoyed attending the Denair Friends Church. 

The family would like to express extreme gratitude to Lois Kuffel and the staff at St. Thomas Retirement Center for the excellent care provided these last three years.

A graveside service will be held on Friday September 11th, 2015 at 11:00am Denair Cemetery 2501 W. Zeering Rd. Denair, CA 95316, reception immediately following.
