Dorothy Audas, 82, of Hilmar, passed away at her home after an extended illness. Dorothy was born in Arkansas. She was one of six children born to George and Lillie Smith. The family moved to Gilroy, California in 1937 looking for a better life working with the WPA. Later they moved to Emeryville, Waterford, and then settled in Hughson. Dorothy worked for several years in the production of Mother’s Cookies. Later she and her husband owned an optical shop in Hilmar. Dorothy was a beautiful person with a heart for God and for people around her.

 

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and by four brothers. She is survived by her husband Bill Payne of Modesto, sister Gladys Halvorson of Turlock, nieces Rebecca Smith of Gustine and Jo Smith of Reno, NV, nephews Kirk and Ben Fink of Turlock, great niece Kylie Jo Cardoza of Gustine, and numerous other nieces and nephews.

 

Visitation will be at Allen Mortuary on Wednesday, Oct. 3rd from 1:00 to 7:00 pm. Funeral Service is at 10:00 am on Thursday, Oct. 4th at Allen Mortuary. Burial will follow at Turlock Memorial Park.
