Elma Machado, 84, of Hilmar, passed away at Emanuel Medical Center on Sunday. She was born to Frank and Pauline Perreira in Tulare, Calif. She was raised on dairies and attended schools in Gustine and Hopeton, Calif.
 In 1942, Elma married Frank P. Dutra. Frank passed away in 1960. She married Manuel B. Machado in 1961 and he passed away in 1972. She married Henry Machado in 1974.
Elma spent her life as a homemaker and being a loving mother to her children. She enjoyed gardening, especially flowers. She and Henry have also enjoyed camping at places including Pismo Beach, Red Bluff, Millerton Lake, and also Arizona and Oregon.
 She loved to read and she loved the Rosary. She will be greatly missed by her family and all that knew her.
Elma is survived by her husband, Henry Machado; children, Jeanette Lamb of Hilmar, Deborah (Jim) Jones of Hilmar and Manuel (Monique) Machado of Stevinson; step-son, Henry Jr. (Julie) Machado of Red Bluff; sister, Elsie Cardoza of Dos Palos; brother, Eddie Pereira of Gustine; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and six step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by son, Frank J. Dutra in 1975.
Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 10 at Allen Mortuary, followed by a Rosary at 7 p.m. Interment will be private.
 In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be considered for the American Cancer Society, 1604 Ford Ave., Ste 8, Modesto, CA 95350 or to American Diabetes Association, PO Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
