Evangeline C. Gier 98, was born in Milpitas CA., on Sept 6th 1915 to Manuel and Mary Martin
both from the Madeira Islands, has passed away on June 27th 2014 in Turlock, CA.
She, with her family moved to Patterson Ca., where she grew up with her brothers and sisters.
She married Charles Gier in August of 1948 in Virginia City, NV., and settled down in the Turlock area.
She is survived by her daughter, Arlene born in 1950 and settled in Turlock as well who is married to
Ken Hensley. She is also survived by her sister Beatrice married to Joe Richardson of Roy Utah., and 6 Grandchildren- Bob (Nancy) Cardoza of Galt CA, Jeff (Breann) Long of Turlock CA, Ken Hensley JR. of Modesto CA, Marci Berry (Mark Turner) of Turlock CA, Sheree (Chad) McDonald of Minot N.D., andJamie (David) Little of Modesto CA. 17 Great Grandchildren with the 18th on the way, and
1 Great Great-Granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her Husband Charles Gier, July 25, 1998, and a Brother- in- Law Ernest
which she was a care giver for Ernest most of his life along with her brothers and sisters.
Evangeline was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Hilmar CA., she was a homemaker most of her life. She was all about helping others. She always loved the Grandkids and Great Grandkids to stay over for visits. She really enjoyed embroidery work, watching her game show and play cards. She loved to enter fruit and vegetables and flowers in the county fair each year. from 1954 she had a wonderful garden and people would always stop by and ask if they could have some fruit or vegetables and with a smile on her face, she would say let me get a bag for you she enjoyed walking and just talking to others and especially visit with the family , going for drives anywhere, she loved to travel to see family. She will always be in our hearts and we will never ever forget our Grandma.

Funeral Service; 2:00 PM, Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Funeral Chapel, 286 W. Main St., Turlock, CA. Following a Graveside service at Turlock Memorial Park, 575 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock, CA.
