George Piro

George Piro was born on Nov. 27, 1955, in Tehran, Iran to Peiro and Zina Piro. As a young boy George often accompanied his father to work at Café Argentine, the family restaurant.  Once there he would convince his dad to let him go to the movie theater right next door where his love of movies began.

After his father passed, George moved to Yonkers, N.Y. in 1972 with his mom and three younger brothers Ramson, Romeo and Ramin.  In Yonkers, George played competitive soccer and spent all his free time playing pool and hanging out with his cousins.  His fondest memories always included picnics at Tibbett’s Brook Park with his entire family and big city life.

In 1978 George moved with his family to Turlock, where he remained a lifelong resident.  In Turlock he met Mary Shamoon, the love of his life and soul mate and they married on July 21, 1984.  George adored Mary; they were best friends.  For a short period of time they moved to Los Angeles where he worked as chief teller at Security Pacific Bank and managed Norm’s Restaurant.  They moved back to Turlock to be closer to their families and together worked in real estate and eventually opened their own office. They both loved to travel and George made it a point to visit the local zoo no matter what city they were in.

George was very close with his mom and often chauffeured her around just so they could spend more time together.  He loved and looked forward to Tuesday nights when he would get together with his brothers and friends and just hang out with the guys.

George passed away peacefully and completely surrounded by his immediate family on March 4, 2011.

George leaves behind his beloved wife, Mary; his mother, Zina: his brother, Ramson and his wife, Helen; his brother, Romeo and his wife, Ardemis; his brother Ramin and his wife, Vivian; his brother-in-law, Yohanna Shamoun; five nieces and nephews; and many cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 9 at Larsa Hall, 2107 E. Monte Vista Ave., Denair.  Burial to follow at Turlock Memorial Park, 575 Soderquist Rd., Turlock.
