Geri Johnson
Oct 30, 1940 to Mar 23, 2012
Johnson Geri crop

Geraldine A. Johnson, 71 of Turlock, passed away at Emanuel Medical Center with her family by her side. Geri was born in Crows Landing, CA to Lawrence and Adeline Rocha. She lived in this area throughout her life, graduating from Hilmar High in 1958. Geri took great pride in this accomplishment, as one of the first in her family to graduate high school. After graduation Geri continued her education, attending Valley Community College. A few years later in 1967, Geri began what would become a life long career, when she began working at Johnson’s Insurance. Just 10 years later Geri married Douglas Johnson, working together until his passing in 1983. Geri eventually sold Johnson Insurance in 1997, to open Geri Johnson Crop Insurance Agency the following year. After nurturing her company for a few years, in 2011 she opted to sell her business to long time employee, Lisa Stavrianoudakis, whom she loved like a daughter.
Geri enjoyed tending to a crop of her own; an almond orchard, she farmed with the help of her ranch manger, friend Fred Aspesi and two sisters, Dora Rocha and Linda Silva.  She also enjoyed golfing, and going to the Indian Casinos. Geri’s job was more than a job to her, she loved her clients. She enjoyed their long conversations and working with all of the farmers.
Geri was a member of Stevinson Ranch Golf Course and Modesto Independent Insurance Agents, and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was very kind and generous to all of her family and friends and will be deeply missed.
Geri is survived by brothers Harold Rocha of Turlock and Clarence (Mary) Rocha of Hilmar, sisters Dora Rocha of Denair, Adeline (Manuel) Oliveira of Modesto, and Linda Silva of Turlock, nieces Cathy (Jack) Benenati of Modesto, Marlene Rocha of Reno, Theresa (Danny) Drumonde of Stevinson, Shawna (William) Oliveira of Atwater, Melissa Rocha of Hilmar and Julie Silva of Turlock, great-nephews Vincent Benenati of Modesto, David Drumonde of Stevinson and Brady Rocha of Reno and a great-niece Marissa Benenati of Modesto. She is preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Adeline Rocha, husband Douglas Johnson, brother David Rocha, and brother in law Joseph Silva.
Visitation will begin at 3pm on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Allen Mortuary with recitation of the Rosary to follow at 7pm also at Allen Mortuary.  Mass of Christian Burial will start at 12pm noon on Friday, March 30, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Turlock with interment to follow at Turlock Memorial Park.
