Harnam Singh, 86, of Merced, passed away on Tuesday in Merced. He was born in India to Thakar Das and Partapi Kaur in 1924. Harnam was a banker for 40 years in India. He immigrated to San Jose in 1990, and then settled in Merced in 2002. He was a member of the Livingston Sikh Temple. Harnam loved to read. God and family were his life.
Harnam is survived by his children, Manmohan Singh, Paramjit Saini, Santosh Kumari and Kirpal Kaur; one brother; two sisters; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vidya Wati; and one brother.
Arrangements are entrusted to Allen Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 10 at Allen Mortuary. A funeral service will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 11 at Allen Mortuary with cremation following.
