Haruko Narita passed away peacefully on June 19 after battling an infection. Haruko was born in Japan. She briefly lived in the Warm Springs area and then settled in Cortez in 1919.
She is survived by her children, Leona Narita, Ilene (Dave) Sato, Carole Narita, Ken (Cathy) Narita, Gail (Doug) Creighton, Sandra (Scott) Beattie and Ruby Narita; and sisters, Grace Narita, Mary Eisel and Rose Nakayama. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Saburo Narita; son, Lloyd Narita; daughter, Ada Nose; her parents and three sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 30 at Turlock First Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Cortez Presbyterian Church, 12516 Cortez Ave., Turlock, or to Cortez JACL, 12714 Cortez Ave., Turlock.
