Hildur was born on January 6, 1916 in Hilmar, CA to Axel and Matilda Carlson. Her parents were farmers. She had three sisters and two brothers. She graduated from Hilmar High School in 1934. She moved to San Francisco where she worked as a dental hygienist and met her future husband at 1st Covenant Church.

She married Wally Carlson on March 30, 1946. They moved to San Jose, CA in 1949. They had three children. She was a homemaker and fulfilled this role well caring for her family and home. She enjoyed gardening and kept the yard free of weeds and looking good. She was a great letter writer and had a talent for writing poetry. They opened their home to many people, entertaining people from church and visiting missionaries. She was an active member of 1st Covenant Church in San Jose. 

In 1990, Hildur and Wally moved to Covenant Village where they lived in Dogwood. They joined Turlock Covenant Church. Hildur moved to Sequoia Assisted Living in 2000 where she lived until 2007 when she moved to the Care Center. Even though her last few years were lived with severe dementia, we are thankful for the excellent care from her caregivers and that she lived in peace and comfort.

Hildur is survived by her daughter, Sheryl Peterson (Ronald) of Rochester, MN, a son, Rodney Carlson (Colleen) of San Jose, CA and a son, Dennis Carlson (Mary Lynn) of Farmington Hills, MI, eight grandchildren, Lisa, Kevin, Brett, Britta, Bryanna, Brandon, Timothy, and Kristin and four great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Svea, Corinna and Casey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace in 1994, her three sisters, Edith, Ruth, and Irene and their spouses, two brothers, Emil, and his wife, and Ruben.

A memorial service will be held at Covenant Village in Berg Hall on Friday, April 11, 2014 at 2:00 PM.
