Joani Klein Griggs

Joani fought the good fight but lost her painful battle with Pancreatic cancer on May 16th where she was surrounded by family. Born Joan Annette Klein, she was the youngest of 4 children born in Santa Monica, CA to Barbara and Robert Klein and spent her first 18 years on the coast in Pacific Palisades, CA. She attended Marymount High School in Westwood, CA and then went on to get her bachelor’s degree from University of San Diego. With her degree in business she went on to various jobs in the San Diego area. She managed a Pottery Barn, ran an Oral Surgeon’s office and eventually moved north to Santa Monica where she managed Santa Monica Orthopedic Group for many years. After marrying in 1990, Joani had her only child, Madison Taylor Griggs in 1993. After her parents retired to Turlock she decided to join them and her 2 sisters in Turlock in 2002 so Madison could grow up with family.

Once in Turlock she took a job running an Orthopedic office and eventually ended up becoming a Medical Director of Specialty Clinics for Emanuel. Joani worked for Emanuel until leaving to take a job with Dignity Health in Stockton in 2014. Joani was a member of First United Methodist Church and loved animals and cooking. Coming from an avid volleyball family, she played in high school and receive a volleyball scholarship to USD. And after moving to Turlock, she found fun in playing in the City League for many years with family and friends.  Joani was a daily walker and could be found most days before work walking on the Canal with her little black and white chihuahua, Cali. She will also be missed by her 8 neices and nephews and her many great-nieces and nephews and her dearest friends. Joani’s ashes will be spread in Aptos, CA where the family will have a celebration of life in July.
