John was born in French Camp, CA and raised in the Russian Colony in Manteca, CA before moving to Turlock in 1944. He graduated from Turlock High School in 1946.  He then enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served two years as a jet mechanic. He earned his Associate of Arts Degree from StocktonCollege where he met Joyce Pittman and later married.

He was the co-owner of Orvis Bros & Co in Modesto; a member of Turlock American Legion, SIRS (Sons in Retirement), and Men of ESA.  John enjoyed international travel with family and friends.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Covenant Care Hospice, Dr. Vernon Park, caregiver Maria Sanchez and Pastor Ronald Youngdale for his prayers.

John is survived by his wife of 67 years Joyce Koftinow; children Ronald (Debbie) Koftinow, Daniel Koftinow and Kevin Koftinow; grandchildren Sasha, Michael John, Christopher and Evan; and great-grand son Jackson; sisters Olga Ferro and Elaine Gale  He was preceded in death by his parents John and Pauline Koftinow.

Viewing will be held at Allen Mortuary on Friday, March 16, 2018 from 5:00-7:00p.m.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday March 17th, 11:30am at On Broadway with Two Guys,

Memorial contributions maybe sent to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105

A private entombment will be held at Turlock Memorial Park.
