Jose Mendes Drumond, 64, of Modesto, passed away on Aug. 18 at his Modesto residence surrounded by his loving family. On Jan. 18, 1980, Jose moved with his family to the United States from Ribeira Seca, Sao Sebastiao, Terceira, Azores and settled in Modesto. He was employed by S & H Dairy in Oakdale for 30 years. He loved to watch soccer, especially his team Sporting. He also enjoyed attending Portuguese bullfights, playing cards, and most of all he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Jose is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Maria de Fatima Drumond; son, Jose Paulo (Don Dra) Drumond of Modesto; daughters, Maria (Raymond) Trujillo of Modesto, Paula Fatima (Jose) Alves of Half Moon Bay, and Lisandra Marie Drumond of Hilmar; brothers, David (Georgina) of Turlock, Mercelino Ormonde of Terceria, Azores, and Anselmo (Maria Filomena) Drumond of Modesto; and grandchildren, Lillyette, Joey, Jimmy, Leanne, and Jesse Alves, all of Half Moon Bay, and Haley Drumond of Modesto.
Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 23 at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Funeral Chapel. A vigil/rosary will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 23 at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, 2606 S. Walnut Ave., Turlock. A mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 24 at Our Lady of Assumption Church. Burial will be at Turlock Memorial Park.
