Julia was born in Chicago, IL to Samuel and Nanajon Yohannan and passed away in Turlock at the age of 85.  She settled in Turlock at the age of fifteen and graduated from Turlock High School. In 1957 she married Brad Sleeper and they shared 57 years of marriage.  Julia was passionate about her Assyrian community and actively involved in and treasurer for the Assyrian American Civic Club of Turlock.  One of her favorite activities was playing “Takhta”, backgammon.  She also loved to read and play bridge.  

She is survived by her husband Brad Sleeper; children Adrienne (Nick) Crusick of San Carlos, CA Kevin (Karen) Sleeper of La Quinta, CA Mary Sleeper of Turlock, CA and David (Fanshawe) Sleeper also of Turlock; sister Lorraine Harold of Pleasant Hill, CA and eight grandchildren.  Julia was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, David Yohannan and John Yohannan, as well as three sisters, Alice Mitchell, Mary Parokian and Dorothy Clarke.

Viewing will be held at Allen Mortuary on Sunday, August 10, 2014 from 1:00-7:00p.m.  

An Anglican service will be held at St. Francis Episcopal Church at 912 W. Main Street in Turlock on Monday, August 11, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Turlock Memorial Park.  Please share your memories at www.AllenMortuary.com.
