Keith Lane Crabtree, 57, passed away January of 2012, in Hughson California, losing a two year battle with pancreatic cancer. He was surrounded at the time by his loving family.
Keith is survived by Linda Crabtree, his wife of 31 years and three children, Michael, Brian, and Lisa, brothers Rick Crabtree (Diann) of Elko Nevada, Hardy Crabtree of Hughson, and mother Nadine Crabtree of Hughson, California. He was preceded in death by father Richard Crabtree.
Keith was born to Richard Crabtree and Nadine (Morrill) Crabtree in 1954; both long time residents of the Hughson California community. Keith was the youngest of three sons; he attended Hughson Elementary and graduated from Hughson High school. He continued his education at Modesto Junior College earning an Associate degree in electronics.
Keith served the local fire fighting community for 28 years. Joining the Stanislaus County Fire Department in 1983 and continuing with that Department until 1989. During those years Keith also served as a volunteer with the Hughson Fire Department. In 1989 Keith joined the Turlock City Fire Department, earned the position of Engineer and was with the Department until unable to continue in 2011.
Keith was an active leader in the Turlock Fire Explorer Post which allowed him to share his knowledge and help educate the youth in the community about fire science.
Keith was an avid outdoorsman who loved camping, hunting and fishing with family and friends. He always looked forward to the annual family deer hunting trip to Clear Lake and setting up the blind at local lakes for waterfowl hunting. Keith always seemed happiest with a rod and reel or gun in his hands. He never stopped smiling when hunting or fishing.
A memorial service is planned for Keith at the Turlock War Memorial, 247 East Canal Drive in Turlock, on Saturday, January 21st, 2012 at 10:00 a.m.
