Martha “Christene” Roland, 65, of Modesto passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on January 16, 2012. 
Born to Floyd and Susie Parnell in Lakeview, Oregon she was fondly known to family and friends as “Christene”.   She called Modesto her home for the past 15 years.
 Christene worked as a nurse’s aide.  Christene was a deer hunter and a member of the Turlock Sportsman Club and the Moose Lodge of Modesto.
Christene is survived by her husband Ron Roland, children David Breakfield of Oregon, Trish (Mike) Anderson of Modesto, Ronnie (Marlene) Roland of Ripon, step children Rondolyn Roland of Texas, Tracy Simon of Stockton and Michael (Nicole) Roland of Bakersfield.  She is also survived by her siblings Kenneth Parnell, Darlene Ferriera, Bruce Parnell, Clifford Parnell and Davelene Werner, 21 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Susie Parnell, grandparents William and Lillian Hibdon and her grandson Elijah Roland.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Franklin and Downs Funeral Homes.  A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Turlock Sportsman Club.  Final resting place is private.
