Rena Silva, 91, of Turlock, California, passed away on Friday, February 18th after a brief illness. She left this world peacefully, at home, surrounded by family.
Rena was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe, and her son David. She is survived by a sister, six children Bill (Carol), Albert (Jeri), Joe (Bea), Jack (Cathy), Mary (Bill), and Eddie (Audrey), twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Rena was an amazingly strong, hard-working woman. She somehow was able to work what most would consider several full-time jobs at the same time as a mother, a farmer, dairy person, a bookkeeper, florist, animal health technician, and even held various jobs within the Turlock School District. In addition to all of this, Rena also found time to give countless hours to the community. Rena was active in the community through Sacred Heart Church, Sacred Heart School, and 4-H as well as several other charitable organizations.
A Rosary, followed by the funeral Mass, will begin at 11:45 a.m., on Monday, February 28th, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1200 Lyons Ave., Turlock. Following the Mass, Rena will be laid to rest at Turlock Memorial Park.
The family requests that in lieu of plants or flowers, a charitable donation be made in Rena’s memory to Catholic Charities USA, Heifer International, or a charity of your choice.
