Bob Johnson, 80, of Turlock, passed away after a short illness at Alexander Cohen Hospice House. He was born to Werner and Ingrid Johnson in San Francisco. He graduated from Balboa High School in San Francisco. He married Vivian Hilscher in April of 1949. Shortly afterward, Bob joined the National Guard and later the U.S. Army. In his earlier years, Bob worked in wholesale hardware sales, then he was a wholesale salesman in the paper industry. He sold paper supplies to retail and restaurant businesses for 35 years. He retired from sales in 1991 and moved to Auburn in 1992. Throughout his life, Bob was an active worker in the local Covenant churches. In fact, at one time he led the project to remodel their church in Rocklin, the Rocklin Community Covenant Church.
Bob is survived by his wife of nearly 61 years, Vivian; children, Larry (Kaylene) Johnson of Aptos, Calif., Martin (Jennifer) Johnson of Golden, Colo., Connie (Bill) Murray of Valley Springs, Calif., Bruce Johnson of Langley, British Columbia, Canada and Diane (Jose) Olvera of Redwood City; brother, Allen Johnson of San Francisco; 10 grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Werner and Ingrid Johnson; and brothers, Arthur Johnson in 1942 and Wilbur Johnson in 2000.
A memorial service will be held to honor Robert at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 20 in Berg Hall at Covenant Village, 2125 North Olive Ave., in Turlock.  Memorials may be considered for Missions Springs Conference Center in Scotts Valley, Calif. or Covenant Village of Turlock.
