Robert Tilden Harris
June 1920 ~ July 2013

Robert Harris, 93, longtime Turlock resident, passed away at Alexander Cohen Hospice House after a short illness.  Robert was born in Riverbank, CA to T. J. and Ora Harris.  After graduating from Oakdale High School he studied Auto Mechanics briefly at MJC.  Following his mother’s wise advice, Bob changed his career direction and attended business school where he received his degree in accounting.  He worked for over 30 years for the Army Air Corps and the IRS in accounting and auditing. As a young man Bob married Lois Fife and they had two children, Robert Harris, Jr. and Terry Elliott.  After only 5 years of marriage Lois tragically died, leaving him broken-hearted and a single father.   With the assistance of his family and by the grace of God, Bob met and married Helen Bodin in 1947.  Bob and Helen were deeply in love through their 56 years of marriage until her passing in 2003.  Bob was a multi-talented man, played several musical instruments, built his own home and could hunt and fish with the best of them.  Bob was very involved in his community and church. He amassed many hours on mission activities, home restoration projects and various leadership Boards.  He was very generous with his time and treasure, even in retirement he served as treasurer for the Evangelical Free Church of Turlock.  His great love for his family and solid faith in God were obvious in the way he lived and served.
Visitation for Mr. Harris will be at Allen Mortuary on Friday, July 26th from 5 to 7 pm.  A Memorial Service is scheduled at Allen Mortuary on Saturday, July 27th at 3:30 pm. Donations may be made to Turlock Hospice or Alexander Cohen Hospice House.  Please leave memories and condolences at www.allen mortuary.com
