Sam Godje, 47, passed away at Doctors Medical Center after an extended illness. Sam was born in Baghdad, Iraq to William and Christina Godje. He moved to Iran where he attended elementary school and to Connecticut at Age 14. He graduated from High School in Connecticut and later received an Associate's Degree. Sam worked for 15 years as a long haul truck driver. In 1995 he made a trip to California that changed his life. While he was here he met Sarah Sargis, fell in love, and moved to California. Sam and Sarah were married in 2000. Sam was active in the Assyrian American Civic Club, the A.U.A., and Mar Addai Assyrian Church of the East.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Sarah Godje of Turlock, 3 children: Samuel Godje of Connecticut, Crystal Godje of Connecticut, and Maryann Godje of Turlock, one grandchild, two sisters: Lisa Eshouzadeh and Linda Oushan, both of Connecticut, and many relatives and close friends. He was well known and loved. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be at Allen Mortuary on Wednesday, April 11th from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. The Funeral Service for Sam will be at Larsa Hall, 2107 East Monte Vista Avenue in Denair on Thursday, April 12th at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Turlock Memorial Park.
