Our beloved mother, Verla Mae Purvis, passed away on April 30, 2014 with her family by her side. Verla was born in Modesto, CA to Harvey and Anna Kline on June 3, 1922.

Verla was preceded in death by her loving husband, Durwood Purvis, her daughter, Verla Anita Black, her parents Harvey and Anna Kline, her sister and brother-in-law, Leta and Jack Carter, her granddaughter, Phyllis Davis and her grandson, Brian Cook.

Verla worked many years for the Merced County Judicial System. She lived most of her life in Delhi. Verla was a member of The Church of Christ in Delhi, and in Turlock. She loved her Lord, and is now in the arms of God. Verla loved her family dearly, and had many beautiful memories of family gatherings.

Verla is survived by her daughters, Norma June Hensley and husband George of Atwater, CA, and her daughter Janet Lee Martin and husband Jerry of Livingston, CA. Also, her bother Ed Kline and his wife Carolyn. She is survived by seven loving grandchildren; Renee Jones, Kelly Joslin, Joy Silva, Julie Martin, Jonathan Martin, Dee Dee Espinoza and Debbie Gunn. She also has twenty great grandchildren, and many great great grandchildren. Her nieces and nephews will have many cherished memories of her, especially of her great smile that she gave so freely to all.

Our mother lived her life fully, never wasting a moment. Her light is now shining in heaven, showing those who remain, the way to a heavenly home. We love you Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, Great Great Grandma and Auntie Verla. You will be truly missed.

There will be a graveside service at Turlock Memorial Park on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 11:00 A.M
