Virginia Lee Ocken

Virginia Lee Ocken, a resident of Turlock Residential Care, passed away peacefully at Brandel Manor on Friday, September 25th. She was 90 years old. 

Virginia was born in El Centro, CA to Silas and Ruby Pinkney. After living there for 16 years, Virginia moved with her parents to Turlock, where she attended Turlock High School. She married the love of her life, Neil Ocken, on April 1, 1948 in Sonora, CA. 

A loving wife and mother, Virginia dedicating most of her time to being a wonderful housewife and homemaker to Neil and their three children. She worked in the Day Care business and for Nelson’s Draperies for some time as well. Virginia also dedicated herself to Genealogy, a hobby she particularly adored. A woman of faith, she was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. 

Along with her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her brothers, Dale and Gayle Pinkney; sister, Joan Wright; and her loving husband, Neil. She is survived by her three children, three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. 

A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m., on Friday, October 2, 2020, at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock. Following the service, Virginia will be laid to rest next to her husband, Neil, at Turlock Memorial Park.
