William Henry Selee

William “Bill” Henry Selee passed away peacefully on February 8, 2018 at the age of 80.  Bill was born on August 26, 1937 in Canon City, CO to Harry and Edith Selee.  He graduated from Canon City High School in 1956.  He went to the University of Northern Colorado where he earned is BA and Teaching Credential.  Bill joined the U.S. Peace Corp and served 2 years (1963-1965) in St. Lucia.  

Bill came back to the United States and married Ruth Stewart on June 16, 1968.  They traveled to New Delhi and taught American International School for 2 years.  They moved back to the United States and taught 4 years in Chelan, Washington.  Washington holds a special place since this is where they had their 2 sons, Bill and Mark.  

In 1972, the family moved to Turlock, CA and made this their home.  Bill taught 23 years in Turlock teaching 5th grade at Julien Elementary School.  When he retired from teaching, he stayed active with other jobs such as delivering flowers and working at the various mortuaries.  

Bill was an active Kiwanis club member.  He just received his 45 year recognition award.  He enjoyed reading, woodworking and plastic cross-stitching.  

Bill is survived by his wife, Ruth, of Turlock, his son Bill (Cristina) of Montrose, CO, daughter-in-law Beth, and brother, Carl (Pat) of Boise, ID.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, Alex, Peyton, Nadia and Sofia.  He is preceded in death by his parents, eleven brothers and sisters and his son, Mark.   

A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 15th at 4:30 pm to 7 pm at Calvary Baptist Church, 700 East Monte Vista, Turlock, California.  Service will also be held at Calvary Baptist Church on Friday, February 16th at 11:00 am.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Calvary Baptist Church in his memory.
