CSU Stan mens soccer accomplishes a rare feat

Victor Regalado, Edgar Santana, Jose Velasquez and John Powell all made Thursday night a historic moment for the Cal State Stanislaus men’s soccer program.
They all scored a goal apiece in a 4-0 win over George Fox University at Warrior Stadium, marking the first time the Warriors totaled four scores in a game in four years.
The last time that happened was in a 4-2 win over Sonoma State on Oct. 26, 2005.
Historical significance aside, the Warriors improved to 2-0-0 this season before Sunday’s home game against Menlo College at 6 p.m. After that, they not only start a three-game road trip but open up California Collegiate Athletic Association play against Sonoma State on Friday afternoon.
“Our opponent was very strong and very physical,” CSUS coach Dana Taylor said after the George Fox game, “so it brought an element to the game that we hadn’t seen.”

Women looking for third straight
The Cal State Stanislaus women’s soccer players hope their trip to Idaho this weekend will be worth it. They also are looking for their third consecutive regular season win.
The Warriors start today at 11 a.m. against Central Washington in Nampa, Idaho, and then play Northwest Nazarene on Monday at 1 p.m.
They begin CCAA action Friday at Sonoma State.

Sweet birthday gift
On her 19th birthday, Lianne Vicchio led the Cal State Stanislaus volleyball team to its third straight win Wednesday night with 11 kills over Dominican University at Warrior Arena, 25-13, 15-25, 27-25, 25-16.
The Warriors were 4-2 entering Friday night’s match against Bethany.
