The men's and women's basketball teams at California State University, Stanislaus wrapped up a run of four straight home games Saturday night against Cal State Dominguez Hills. The men's team played a close game, winning by the nail biting score of 59-58. Stanislaus' women also beat Dominguez Hills in a close matchup, defeating the Toros 57-53.
The men's basketball team (9-5 overall, 5-5 CCAA) kicked off their home game stretch with a 78-72 overtime victory against UC San Diego. Stanislaus' next two opponents, Cal State San Bernardino and Cal State L.A., would get the better of the Warriors, defeating them by three points in San Bernardino's game and eight in L.A.'s.
Vince Fuller helped Stanislaus win its fourth and final game of the home series against the Toros, putting up 18 points. Fuller was Stanislaus' go to guy as Reggie Jones was left on the bench with foul troubles.
The women Warriors (5-9 overall, 2-8 CCAA) didn't fare as well as their male counterparts. Stanislaus dropped its first three home games before finally winning the fourth against the Toros. In their first game the Warriors were dealt a tough 61-83 loss by UC San Diego. Cal State San Bernardino beat them 59-65 in their second home game, and Cal State L.A. won by a score of 64-77 in the third.
As has been the case all season, Theresa Henderson led the Warriors with 28 points against San Bernardino. With help from her teammates, Henderson and Stanislaus sealed their lone home victory of the stretch with a seven point run and a pair of free throws.
Both teams will now be on the road for their next two games, traveling to Cal State Monterey Bay on Friday and Cal State East Bay on Saturday.
