Sydney Streeter shot a 3-over-par 74 at the River Oaks Golf Club in Nicolaus to capture the Sac-Joaquin Section Division 2 individual championship last week.

Streeter, who was MVP of the Central California Athletic League two years ago as a sophomore, finished her career Turlock High on Monday with an 84 at the section’s Masters tournament at the Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton.

At River Oaks, Streeter had a handful of birdie opportunities, finally breaking through on her seventh hole. Overall, she had birdie on both the front nine and back nine, to go along with four bogeys on the par-71 course.

She was even at the turn and shot 2-over on the back nine.

“I liked playing the course, but it was very complex,” said Streeter. “There were a lot of blind tee shots and dog legs.”

Streeter singled out her putting as being the key to her victory. She had 31 putts during the round.

“Overall, I think my putting saved me,” said Streeter. “I had a lot of really long par opportunities — about 15 to 20 feet. And I made a 25-footer for birdie.”
