Turlock High’s boys tennis returned to winning form after back-to-back losses to Merced High and Golden Valley High in its last two matches. The Bulldogs defeated Pitman High 9-0 at home on Thursday, securing a second place league finish.

After winning their final match of the regular season in straight sets, the Bulldogs finished with an 8-2 record.

The Bulldogs' one and two doubles have yet to lose this year and sit at 8-0 and 10-0. The number three doubles’ only losses came to Merced and Golden Valley.

“Coming in second is not a bad thing, but I feel we could run the table,” said head coach Juan Alaniz.

Leading the Bulldogs squad is Jordan Bean with a 6-4 record, Alder Lima sits at 9-1 and in the third spot is Heath Rojas 6-1.

Now looking ahead into the season, the Bulldogs will travel on the road to compete in the CCC singles tournament on Tuesday and Thursday at Merced High.

“Since we have the playoffs the following week, we must travel in the first round but we're a stronger team in section and I feel confident with our team traveling and feel that the kids can compete,” Alaniz said. “We will see how it goes and how we do.”
