Hilmar High varsity volleyball swept Central Catholic in the quarterfinal round of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division-IV playoffs (25-17, 25-16 and 25-21) to secure a return trip to the semifinals.

As a team, Hilmar amassed 42 kills against CC with Olivia Peterson leading the way with 13.

Mikela Labno added 10 and Mariah Ahid finished with eight kills.

The Yellowjackets also finished with 83 digs for the game as a team, with Julia Gonsalves adding 16 and Makayla Fontes 15.

Hannah Pearce added a game-high 32 assists out of the teams 36 total assists.

This win and their first-round victory over Encina in straight sets, 3-0, earned them a spot in the semis.

In Tuesday's first round matchup, Hilmar toppled Encina in convincing fashion in a 25-8 first set win followed by a 25-3 and 25-10 victory.

During that match Pearce finished with a game-high 23 assists while Hilmar accumulated 27 kills. Four different players had six or more kills.

Hilmar's overall record now stands at 27-13 heading into their semifinals battle with Union Mine.

The D-IV semifinal game will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hilmar.
