Pitman High’s Liz Webb has been named the most valuable player for the 2024 Central California Athletic League in girls basketball.

Webb’s coach, Parmine Randhawa, joined Turlock’s Erica Hernandez as the co-Coaches of the Year.

Webb, a 5-foot-4 senior point guard, averaged 13.8 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 3.5 steals during the regular season. During the 10-game CCAL schedule, Webb averaged 15.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 4.5 steals per contest.

“I was really surprised and excited at the same time to named MVP for both the CCAL and for the Pitman team,” said Webb, who plans to attend Sacramento City College in the fall. “I definitely wanted to step up my game from last year.”

Randhawa and Hernandez guided their respective teams to a share of the CCAL title, one game ahead of Gregori. Hernandez and the Bulldogs took the first meeting of the year 38-33 on their own floor, then Randhawa and the Pride won the rematch 39-35 at their place.

“Erica is a great person to share this honor with,” said Randhawa. “It’s not why we do it — we do it for the kids, so they can have a good experience playing basketball — but it’s nice to get the recognition.”

Both earned play-in games in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division 1 playoffs, with Turlock falling 51-46 to Stagg (Stockton) and Pitman dropping a 54-41 decision to Edison (Stockton).

“It felt good to be able to grow and be league co-champions and be recognized as co-Coach of the Year,” said Hernandez. “It was good to be recognized after everything we’ve been through this year.”

On Dec. 29, Turlock assistant coach Jonathan Williams was killed in an automobile accident near Pitman High.

Turlock senior Olivia Walker and Pitman sophomore Dailynn Greener were first-team selections, while the Bulldogs’ Lexie Franco and Chloe Wong, and the Pride’s Lexi Pulido and Kaitlyn Wu were second-team honorees.

Meanwhile, Turlock’s Jazlynne Mendoza and Pitman’s Tusi Elisaia were honorable mentions.

Veronica Whitten and Veronica Whitten (Gregori), Joslyn Sheppard (Downey), Natalie Quinones (Enochs) and Julia Pedretti (Modesto) rounded out the first-team selections, while Lilly Staggs was the other second-team choice.

Nathalia Soto (Downey), Gurleen Gill (Enochs), Lilly Morris (Gregori), and Zoe Pando (Modesto) were the remaining honorable mentions.
