Pitman using bye week to correct mistakes

After two momentum-building road wins, the Pitman High football team will have to resist the temptation of tackling someone since the Pride are off this week. Their next game won’t be until Sept. 24, when they host Franklin High of Stockton at Joe Debely Stadium.

And that’s a good thing, considering Pride coach Brandon Harris wants to use the next couple weeks to correct errors the Pride (2-1) have made so far.

“We’re just getting back at what we do,” he said. “We’re not working on our next opponent. We’re just working on little mistakes that we made in the first three games and getting healthy.”

Some of the mistakes he wants his team to fix include: “On offense, we gotta become better fakers, our play-timing needs to become faster on offense and our pad level has to get lower. Our defense needs to pursue the ball and making sure we line correctly.”
