Pitman High’s Logan Wolfley had high hopes for his 2013 high school wrestling season but a combination of tough brackets and an elbow injury led to a disappointing finish for the Pride junior. Although he finished with a 40-11 record, his 1-2 finish at Masters and 8th place Section ranking was less than he had hoped for.

Even though the high school wrestling season is over, Wolfley got an opportunity to redeem his junior year at the SCWAY Grade State Championships two weeks ago—and that’s exactly what he did. With newfound determination and focus, Wolfley fought his way through the 152 pound bracket and emerged as a tournament champion. Wolfley now has a spot in the ever growing Flo-Nationals which will be held at Indiana University April 5-7.

The Flo-Nationals is divided by grade and boasts the nation’s top high school wrestlers and has become a scouting ground for the country’s major universities. Every competitor is either a state champion or runner-up, meaning Wolfley will face his stiffest competition yet.

Wolfley’s championship win was an improvement on his 5th place finish as a freshman and 4th place finish as a sophomore. He was one of five Pride wrestlers to compete in the SCWAY Grade State Championships where Hayden Mattox placed 8th in the sophomore category and Lorenzo Lewis placed 7th in the freshman category.
