Turlock girls and boys swim top Pitman in rivalry matchup

Turlock High’s boys and girls swim teams continued to dominate the Central California Athletic League with a pair of victories over visiting Pitman on Thursday at the Steve Feaver Aquatic Center.

The girls turned in a convincing 120-48 victory, while the boys cruised to a 120.5-46.5 triumph.

Abby Braley, Kallie Parker and Kaylee Amarant each turned in a pair of individual wins for the Bulldogs. Braley took firsts in the 200 freestyle (2:03.41) and 100 butterfly (1:04.23), while Parker won the 200 individual medley (2:33.32) and 500 free (6:06.32). Amarant was victorious in the 50 (25.68) and 100 free (55.86).

Mia Ngo (100 backstroke) and Heidi Lancaster (100 breaststroke) were the lone winners for the Pride.

In the boys meet, Cohen Harris and Mitchell Clark were double-winners for Turlock, while Rick Vander Veen won twice for Pitman.

Harris won the 200 IM (2:11.36) and 100 breaststroke (1:03.01), Clark took the 50 free (23.85) and 100 fly (59.54), while Vander Veen paced the field in the 200 free (1:55.08) and 100 back (59.86).

The Sac-Joaquin Section trials and finals will be held May 3-5 in Elk Grove, with the state meet May 11-13 at the Clovis West (Fresno) Aquatic Center.

After a week off due to Modesto City Schools going on spring break, the varsity baseball programs of Turlock and Pitman high schools were finally able to wash away the bitterness of tough doubleheader losses on March 21 by each securing wins on Monday.
